About me
Welcome! Most people know me as Dr. Eric because my last name (pronounced VEERT-shahf-ter) can be a bit challenging to pronounce. I am a board-certified hematologist, internist, and medical oncologist, practicing at Kaiser Permanente’s Baldwin Park Medical Center.
Biography
I grew up in Los Angeles and continue to maintain strong roots here. My family and my work are the main focuses of my life.
About my practice
My Cancer Subspecialty Focus
My primary focus is cutaneous oncology, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers. I serve as a regional expert in this field and actively contribute to advancing treatment approaches.
National Expertise on Multidisciplinary Teams
I play an active role in regional and national oncology collaborations, including providing regional expertise to the multidisciplinary Cutaneous Tumor Board.
As a member of the Southern California Regional Cutaneous Oncology Committee, I help to analyze emerging therapeutics that inform the National Kaiser Permanente Oncology Care Pathways.
Research and Clinical Trials
I am a proud member of several prestigious oncology research groups, including the National Cancer Institute’s Community Oncology Program. I am a sub-investigator in:
- SWOG Cancer Research Network
- National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP)
- Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology
- NRG Oncology
My research involvement also includes collaboration with these leading oncology research groups. My work aims to advance cancer treatment options and improve member outcomes.
How I thrive
Living a well-rounded life is important to me. Outside of medicine, I enjoy playing and watching sports, playing guitar, and traveling. I am passionate about providing personalized, innovative cancer care and am honored to be part of members’ journeys.
