About me
Thank you for considering me as your physician. It will be a privilege to take care of you. I hope that by learning more about me, you would feel more comfortable with me as your physician.
Biography
My parents immigrated from South Korea, and I was born and raised in Southern California. I first wanted to become a physician when my dad was diagnosed with colon cancer. Watching him survive cancer made me want to become a doctor that helps people do the same. I went to UCLA for college and medical school and eventually went to University of Washington in Seattle for my residency training. I met my lovely wife in Seattle, and we got married before we moved back down to California for my fellowship in robotics and oncology at City of Hope. I joined Kaiser Permanente as a urologic oncologist right after fellowship and have loved my job ever since. I am particularly passionate about taking care of members with urologic cancers because dealing with cancer can be very difficult and anxiety-provoking, and I want to be there for my members in their time of need.
About my practice
I believe good communication is the key to a healthy partnership between physician and member. I am a very direct person and I love when members are direct with me about their needs and wants. I believe in member-centered care, empowering members with the knowledge that they need to make educated decisions about their own health. I know that navigating the healthcare system can be frustrating and confusing, so please be patient with me and my team because we will always try our best to take care of you.
How I thrive
I love to stay active when I am not working. I like to bike, run, and swim. My favorite sport is basketball, but I also love to play pickleball. Additionally, attending and serving at church is a big part of my life as it keeps me emotionally and spiritually grounded. Lastly, I serve on the board for Newcomer Access Center, a local nonprofit that helps refugees and immigrants settle into Southern California.
