Where I practice
Welcome to my Web page! Thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself, and share a bit about my pediatrics practice.
I grew up in an extended household with a lot of kids, so once I settled on medicine as my career, pediatrics was a natural choice. I am a California boy through and through. I was born here, and with the exception of my years in medical school and residency, I have lived all my life in California. Although I have always wanted to practice medicine, I also love history, aviation, and field biology. At one point I even considered becoming a journalist. The greatest challenge in my life is that so many things interest me it has been hard sometimes to choose among them. Sun Tzu explains in his book The Art of War how the pinnacle of excellence is to defeat an enemy without fighting it.
About my practice
The relationship between physicians, patients, and their families is intensely personal. I fear oftentimes the practice of medicine has become too impersonal. It is a privilege to care for your child, and I believe in working together with parents to create treatment plans unique to the needs of each child in each situation. Personally, I do not like prescribing medications; however certain situations do require them.
How I thrive
From my father I learned the importance of reading, and being physically fit. My mother taught me how to give. That is where I find my happiness; when I am pushing myself at the gym or reading about an historical battle or volunteering with the local youth teams. We are blessed with beautiful trails in the mountains around Bakersfield, where I love to spend time and explore.
