Donna Corazon Yu Habaluyas, MD
I speak: English, Tagalog
My gender: Female
Where I practice
My name is Dr. Habaluyas, and I'm a family medicine physician at the Kaiser Permanente Lancaster Medical Offices. I enjoy meeting and talking with my patients while getting to know their needs.
I was born and raised in the Philippines and knew from the beginning that I wanted to be a doctor. Through hard work and perseverance, I earned my medical degree from a university in Manila. Later, when I came to the United States, I did my family practice residency at St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware. Since several of my friends from medical school had practiced with Kaiser Permanente for a long time, I was drawn to this organization.
About my practice
I am a firm believer that preventing an illness is far better than treating one, so I always try to guide my patients towards a healthy lifestyle. As a doctor who is also a parent and wife, I struggle with many of the same issues you do. I always try to empathize with my patients and their predicaments. I understand that finding time in a busy schedule to obtain a work/life balance, attempting to lose a few pounds, or managing to exercise on a regular basis can be tough. However, I have found that with a little effort and the proper attitude, we can enjoy life and stay healthy. I invite you to join me in that quest.
How I thrive
My husband and I depend upon one another for support and fulfillment. I love to eat and cook. Unfortunately, great Filipino foods tend to have too much fat, so we are learning to enjoy a lighter Mediterranean diet and exploring restaurants that serve healthier dishes. My two kids give me plenty of exercise, and my husband does his best to see that our busy schedules mesh well to avoid either of us getting overly tired and running out of energy. By working together, we are able to both enjoy life and stay healthy.
