Where I practice
Welcome to my Web page. I'm happy to have this chance to introduce myself to you and tell you about my practice. I feel very fortunate to work at Kaiser Permanente because of my wonderful colleagues and our members, and look forward to working with you to care for your health.
I was born in the beautiful tropical island of Sri Lanka (Ceylon)—a former British colony. After finishing medical school, I decided to come to the United States for my postgraduate education and training. When I first landed in Southern California, I immediately fell in love with the area. After I finished my residency training in Brooklyn, New York, I decided to come right back to the Los Angeles area to raise my family and practice medicine.
About my practice
Currently, I practice internal medicine as well as obesity (bariatric) medicine. I consider practicing medicine a privilege because it allows me to help people in a meaningful way—not only by utilizing my medical skills and knowledge, but also by listening and responding to what people need. The best way to stay well is through healthy living and preventive care. As your partner in health, I want you to know that it helps me better care for you when you are actively involved in taking care of yourself. The more you know about your health or illnesses, the better. That's why I focus so much on health education—in addition to prescribing medication and recommending specialist care.
How I thrive
My family life is my major priority. I enjoy family outings with my wife, two daughters, and son, and we all enjoy summer trips to faraway places. I also love to relax and meditate at home. I love reading books. I also like to play a game of tennis now and then. And I love to visit the beaches and beach cities in California whenever I get a chance.
