About me

Hello, and welcome to my Web page. My name is Dr. David Kaiden. I’ve been with Kaiser Permanente for about 20 years, and I can honestly say I wouldn’t want to work anywhere else. I’m very excited about the integration of technology into my practice of medicine.

Biography

I was born in Los Angeles and grew up in the San Fernando Valley. I’m married and have three kids. I feel very fortunate that I was able to do all of my schooling in Southern California. I enjoy the active lifestyle that San Diego affords us all. For as long as I can remember, I’d always wanted to be a doctor. I did briefly consider a career in education, but my work as a doctor allows me to educate—in a way I have the best of both worlds! Currently, my greatest joy in life is watching my kids grow up. Seeing my members staying healthy also brings me much satisfaction and joy.

About my practice

In my practice, I emphasize the importance of a healthy lifestyle. When it comes right down to it, most things are out of our control. We can’t control or change our genes. We can’t always prevent accidents or mishaps. Most importantly, we often can’t control when or if we become sick. So one philosophy I try to share with my members is that life is very precious and way too short. Why not do everything in your power to enjoy life to the fullest now? We know that regular exercise and a healthy diet reduces your risk for so many illnesses—this is irrefutable. So why not exercise? We know that certain medications can improve your quality of life. So why not take them? We know that smoking increases your risk of cancer and heart disease. So why not stop? I offer more than just a phone number to the stop smoking clinic. I try to encourage members to make these healthy choices each day, and I lead by example. Each day I get a lot of great feedback from my members. Mostly, members are happy with the ease of accessing their medical information in a secure fashion through Kaiser Permanente.org.

How I thrive

Balance is very important to me. I like to practice what I preach about the importance of exercise, and I participate in numerous sporting activities and enjoy going on hikes with my kids. Regular exercise, and rooting for USC football are also very nice distractions from the day-to-day grind of a full-time job and raising a family. Of course, I have other hobbies, but exercise always seems to be the most rejuvenating. I hate to admit that I’m an avid “The Biggest Loser” and “American Idol” viewer—now that is great entertainment!
