Where I practice
I am a general surgeon at the Los Angeles Medical Center.
I was born in Mexico, and raised in Chicago from the age of 5. My interest in the practice of medicine began when I was very young. By the time I was in high school I knew that I wanted to be a surgeon. I attended medical school and general surgery residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I then moved to Los Angeles, where in October 2009 I was fortunate to join the Department of Surgery at Kaiser Permanente.
About my practice
I enjoy treating a wide variety of diseases, ranging from simple conditions to complex ones that involve different organ systems. The majority of my elective practice involves minimally invasive surgery to treat abdominal disorders such as gallbladder disease, abdominal hernias, groin hernias, colon cancer, gastro esophageal reflux disease, and hiatal hernias. I also treat skin conditions and anorectal disorders, many of which can be treated in the office. I work with a terrific team of fellow surgeons, residents, and nurses. My patients come from all walks of life. One particular joy of my practice is the ability to serve Spanish-speaking patients in their own language.
How I thrive
I thrive by enjoying my work, which gives me the unique opportunity to improve the quality of life for my patients. Each day leaves me with a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. Outside of work I enjoy many different activities such as cooking, skiing, motorcycle riding, hiking, traveling, reading, and spending time with friends and family. This list is constantly expanding as I seek opportunities to broaden my horizons.
