My gender: Female
Where I practice
Hello, and thank you for visiting my Web page! My name is Dahlia Tawfik-Sexton and I am a board certified general surgeon. I am fellowship trained in both advanced gastrointestinal (GI) and minimally invasive surgeries.
I was born and raised in Canada, and moved to the United States at age 14. My family lives in the Midwest and I met my husband there. My decision to become a doctor was sparked by my interest in the structure and function of the human body. My parents have been extremely influential and supportive as I worked toward my medical career, and were a strong pillar of motivation throughout my training. My husband has been with me throughout my entire medical journey, and I can easily say I could not have gotten where I am today without his love and constant support.
About my practice
I have a broad general surgical practice and perform both open and laparoscopic procedures. I have a focus in foregut surgery, including hiatal hernia repair and anti-reflux surgery.
How I thrive
I believe that work-life balance is extremely important, especially as a woman in the medical field. I enjoy being with my family, and doing any activities that involve us spending time together. We love seeing both new and old movies, traveling near and far, and trying different types of cuisine. In my alone time I enjoy reading, and can get through a book in one sitting if given the time!
