About me
Welcome to my Web page. As a part of our Neurology Department here at Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center, I feel very lucky to be working with a terrific team of physicians and nurses. We strive always to work together to give you and your family the best care possible.
Biography
I grew up in Rhode Island and attended Brown University Medical School. I completed my Internship at St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach and my Neurology Residency and Fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance. Although I am still a New England sports fan, I love living in the South Bay with my wife and two daughters (both born here at Kaiser Permanente South Bay!). I have always wanted to be a physician and first became interested in neurology as a teenager, when my mother was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
About my practice
In the Neurology Department, our teams of doctors, nurses, case managers, and social workers strive for excellence and compassion as we care for our members and their families. We work closely with our colleagues in other departments, including Primary Care, Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy, Psychiatry, Pharmacy, and Neurosurgery. As the Regional Chief of Neurology, I work to make sure we provide affordable care of the highest quality, with compassion, empathy, and easy access, in order to help improve our members' quality of life. I also teach neurology residents at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, and am a member of the American Academy of Neurology. Over the years, I have developed a particular passion and interest in Parkinson's disease. So when the opportunity came to collaborate with researchers Drs. Bastiaan Bloem and Marten Munneke at Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre in the Netherlands, I said yes without hesitation. Drs. Bloem and Munneke developed ParkinsonNet, an organization that strives to improve the lives of those impacted by with Parkinson's disease worldwide. The chance to help develop ParkinsonNet here for our patients has been incredible. Sharing this experience with our Parkinson's patients (who have been involved from the start) and colleagues from so many disciplines is a true privilege and very humbling.
How I thrive
Outside of my practice, I love music, reading science fiction and fantasy, traveling with my family, gourmet cooking, and collecting fine Italian red wines. I have also taken up running and triathlons to stay fit in body, mind, and spirit, as well as volunteer building sets and stage managing for Metropolitan Educational Theater Network, where my daughters perform in musical theater.
