I was born in Nevada but came to Southern California for my residency training. The beautiful weather, rich cultural diversity, and, luckily, meeting my husband solidified my desire to stay in Southern California to practice medicine. I am the first in my family to pursue an education beyond high school. It was only after my grandfather fell ill that I realized my interest in medicine. I knew that I wanted to be able to make a real difference in people's lives, and practicing medicine, particularly surgery, has granted me that opportunity.
Hello, and welcome to my Web page. I am happy to have this chance to introduce myself to you and tell you about my practice. I feel very fortunate to work at Kaiser Permanente because of my wonderful colleagues and our members, and look forward to working with you to care for your health.
Surgery as a career is a very special opportunity to connect with people in a meaningful way, utilizing surgical skills and knowledge and physically correcting disease processes, but also listening and responding to what people need. A person's relationship with their surgeon requires extreme trust and intimacy. I pride myself in obtaining trust with my patients by helping patients understand what concerns them, translating what they may not grasp, facilitating appropriate evaluations, and communicating with them and their families. I feel very honored that members have entrusted me with their care and strive to treat them as I would my own family.
I strive to keep balance in my life because I feel this makes me a better doctor, wife, family member, and friend. I enjoy bike riding, camping, fishing, swimming, and traveling. I also make it a priority to set aside time to just relax or read a good novel.
