Hello, I’m Dr. Saborio, a family medicine physician with Kaiser Permanente’s Palmdale offices. Whether you come to me thanks to a suggestion from a friend, by browsing our website or simply by chance, I am delighted that you are considering me to be your family physician. I look forward to meeting you and learning what makes you tick. With a little help, hopefully we can keep you ticking for many years to come.
I was raised in the San Fernando Valley. My parents had emigrated from Costa Rica and Mexico before I was born, so I grew up speaking Spanish as well as English. If you prefer Spanish, that’s fine by me. Since I was a child, I’ve been enthralled with medicine. I’ve heard I told everyone I would be a doctor before I was 2. My great-grandmother was the village midwife, so perhaps healthcare is in my genes. In any case, I love it and am gratified that many members have been with me since I started practicing with Kaiser Permanente. I went to college at UCLA and then to UC Irvine for medical school. I served both my internship and residency at UC Irvine and here I honed my bedside manners. My family has been a part of Kaiser Permanente since I was 12, so it is only natural that I chose Kaiser Permanente as the place I wanted to practice medicine. I liked the way Kaiser Permanente approaches member care and soon discovered there was much to admire about the way they treat their doctors, too.
Whenever I meet new members, I try to get to know them as best I can. As we go over their medical history, we’ll chat casually, and soon I have a good snapshot on which to base my recommendations. I always encourage my members to be proactive about their well-being. Preventing problems by being active, eating right, and avoiding bad habits is much better than trying to come up with a cure. For those who need a little encouragement, I look for creative ways to help them along. Before you know it, we’re knocking down chronic problems that have prevented them from enjoying a full and active life.
I love to travel. I’ve visited all seven continents and would relish the opportunity to return to them all! I’ve been swimming in Antarctica and have cozied up to exotic creatures in Costa Rica. I love exploring new places and experiencing new adventures. That is what makes me tick, or as Kaiser Permanente likes to put it − thrive.
