Where I practice
Welcome to my Web page. I am a family medicine physician and have practiced with Kaiser Permanente since 1990. I am proud to have been trained at the family practice residency program at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center, where I was chief resident. In 2006, I helped open up the Kaiser Permanente Oxnard Medical Offices, and in 2007, I began my administrative role as physician-in-charge. I feel fortunate to be able to work at Kaiser Permanente to help make our organization one of the best health care delivery systems in the country.
As a fourth-generation Oxnard native, I have fulfilled my dream to finally come home to practice in my hometown. I decided to become a physician in the seventh grade when I worked as a hospital volunteer at St. John's Hospital. After interpreting for a doctor, I realized how valuable my Spanish-speaking abilities could be in the field of medicine. I loved the feeling I got when I could help someone feel better. One of the things I enjoy most about Kaiser Permanente is being able to volunteer in the community. I started the WVC Hippocrates Circle program and the Summer Junior Volunteer Program, which encourage kids to pursue medical careers. I also serve on the committee for medical student scholarships. I enjoy volunteering with local charities in the community as well. I am happily married and have two daughters and a son.
About my practice
I consider being a family physician a very special opportunity to connect with and help people in a meaningful way. I've found that caring for people is more than utilizing my medical skills and knowledge, but that it also includes listening and responding to what people need. It is a privilege to help patients understand what concerns them, translate what they may not grasp, and facilitate getting them the appropriate evaluations. I'm honored that my patients have entrusted me with their care. My goal is to treat them as I would my own family.
How I thrive
Keeping balance in my life is very important to me. My family life is my major priority. I enjoy family outings, watching my kids play sports, traveling, and quiet family time at home. I also volunteer with the National Charity League, the Assistance League, and Las Patronas Auxilary Group. To keep myself well, I work out at the gym every morning with TRX and/or spinning classes. I also like reading, baking, playing piano, gardening, playing Bunco, and tennis.
