Where I practice
Hi, my name is Ben! I'm one of the many dedicated emergency physicians you may encounter during a visit to the Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles Medical Center Emergency Department.
I grew up in suburban Maryland—right outside of Washington, DC. I attended both college and medical school in Baltimore, Maryland, and then proceeded to spend the next 10 years of my life in New York City. I continued to practice in academic emergency medicine in NYC for seven years after completing my residency in 2005. But soon after the birth of our daughter a few years ago, my wife and I decided to set out for the sunnier pastures of Los Angeles.
About my practice
I’m a big proponent of practicing medicine based on scientific evidence—even in the non-academic medicine setting. I try to incorporate it into every single element of my members’ care. I also feel strongly that members satisfaction and successful medical care are predicated on informed decision-making, and not on prescribing something strictly for the sake of 'doing something.'
How I thrive
I’m passionate about emergency medicine, but I’ve also learned along the way that it’s important to spend my time away from the hospital just enjoying life. In my spare time, I like to travel, garden, play with my daughter, think about interior design, cook, and imagine what my friends are doing back in NYC!
