About me
I am a board-certified medical oncologist at Kaiser Permanente’s Baldwin Park Medical Center. I’ve dedicated my career to helping people navigate a cancer diagnosis, and to doing so with expertise, compassion, and partnership. I believe deeply in working together — member, family, and physician — as a team.
Biography
I trained in internal medicine at Los Angeles County/USC and completed my hematology and oncology fellowship at USC. My path in medicine has always been guided by a desire to serve with heart and integrity.
About my practice
My Cancer Subspecialty
While I treat a variety of cancers, my primary focus and passion is sarcoma oncology. Sarcomas are rare and complex tumors, and treating them requires specialized knowledge and a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach. I feel honored to walk alongside members through this journey and bring them care based on evidence and current research.
National Expertise on Multidisciplinary Teams
At Kaiser Permanente, I serve as the regional expert in sarcoma and collaborate closely with a team of surgeons, radiation oncologists, pathologists, and radiologists through our Sarcoma Cancer Tumor Boards. This team approach ensures that every member’s case is carefully reviewed from every angle and that your treatment plan is tailored specifically to you.
As a member of the Southern California Regional Subspecialty Sarcoma Oncology Committee, I also contribute to developing and refining our care pathways, so that all sarcoma patients across the region benefit from the latest advancements in treatment.
Research and Clinical Trials
In addition to providing comprehensive clinical care, I am actively involved in oncology research through the National Cancer Institute’s Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP). As a sub-investigator on national clinical trials, I collaborate with leading cooperative groups to bring promising new therapies to our local members, including:
- SWOG Cancer Research Network – specializing in adult cancer clinical trials across a wide range of disease types
- NSABP (National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project) – known for pioneering research in breast and colorectal cancer
- Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology – conducting broad-based clinical and translational research to reduce the impact of cancer
- NRG Oncology – focused on improving outcomes for those with breast, gynecologic, and gastrointestinal cancers, with a strong emphasis on radiation oncology
I am also a proud member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, which allows me to stay at the forefront of cancer care and research.
My research includes a study evaluating long-term outcomes in high-grade, primary soft-tissue sarcoma, comparing ifosfamide-doxorubicin chemotherapy to local therapy alone in histology-specific subtypes. This work was published in Radiotherapy and Oncology and can be accessed at:
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34758339/#:~:text=Radiother%20Oncol,5
These research efforts not only expand treatment options for members but also contribute meaningfully to the future of sarcoma care.
How I thrive
Outside of work, I stay grounded by spending quality time with my family and friends, staying active, and finding moments for reflection and gratitude. I bring that same sense of balance and dedication to the care I provide.
