About me
Welcome and thank you for visiting my Web page! I am honored and proud to serve our beautiful community in Southern California as a Kaiser Permanente family medicine physician. The physician-member relationship is special, and I appreciate you taking the time to get to know me as I want to get to know you.
Biography
I was born in Houston and then grew up in Orange County. I attended Santa Margarita Catholic High School and then received my bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering from UCLA, which is where I met my wife through community service. We come from a multicultural family, and she is also from Orange County currently practicing as a general dentist. While training for our careers, we have both been in several different states within the US and learned to appreciate the beauty and charm of each community along our journeys. Orange County is home to us and holds a special place in our heart, which is why we were privileged to be able to move back to California and reconnect with our families and friends. I come from a large family and chose a career in medicine so that I could take care of others as I would for my own loved ones. Since volunteering at a young age, including experiences through pediatric child life units, I learned to view the family and community as a unit and want to apply behavioral and preventive health within family medicine to improve the health of individuals and the community.
About my practice
One of my main goals is to get to know you as a person, including your story beyond the numbers and diagnoses in the chart. Medicine is complex, and we often treat people who are at their most vulnerable, which is why I strongly believe in the combination of member-centered care and medicine based on evidence and current research. My specific training background has allowed me to focus on professional development and emotional intelligence with the goal of becoming a better physician. I have been involved in leadership, advocacy, teaching, mentoring, and coaching with the goal of empowering others to make positive decisions for themselves. This extends to member care because physicians are educators in addition to healers. I am also interested in collaboration and quality improvement for healthcare. Our healthcare team is dedicated to taking care of you as our top priority, and I want you to look forward to your experience with us.
How I thrive
We want everyone to thrive at Kaiser Permanente, which includes ourselves! I chose family medicine because I enjoy hearing the stories and memories of members as we grow together. My focus on relationships goes beyond the professional environment as my wife and I love spending time with family and friends. We are huge "foodies," centering our plans around the best places to eat and trying new things! As we start this next chapter in our lives, we want to travel more and learn about other cultures. My friends and I embrace the concept of the "Renaissance Man," which includes interests in several areas and learning new skills such as playing instruments, listening to music, dancing, sports, health and fitness, anime, and playing video and board games. I would like to spend more time cooking and grilling. Doing all these activities and giving back to our community here in Southern California are how I achieve wellness.
