About me
Hi there, and welcome to my Web page. My first name is Amber, and I am a Family Medicine physician with Kaiser Permanente. Having trust and confidence in a physician is important, which is why I am thrilled to have this opportunity to present my credentials and share a little bit about my personal self, philosophies, and what makes me thrive. I look forward to working with you and/or your family to establish a long-term goal toward wellness.
Biography
I am originally from Northern California but have lived all around the states and even Japan while growing up. My husband, who is originally from Bakersfield, and I met in the military. We moved down to Southern California with our puppy for my residency training a few years ago. Our attachment to the warm weather, beaches, and endless places to eat has made it difficult to leave.
About my practice
I went into medicine with the simple goal of wanting to “keep people healthy.” (That exact quote is somewhere in my college admission essay.) This is why family medicine is my calling. I believe that health education and preventive measures are key in guiding members to lead an optimal and thriving lifestyles. As humans, we are all susceptible to disease and illness. My duty is not just to treat illness. It is my responsibility to educate and prevent with the goal of potentially reversing any risk factors for disease. Medicine is a practice in which both players, doctor and patient, put in a combined effort to reach a common goal. That ultimate goal is wellness.
How I thrive
I recently completed a research project on resident wellness and burnout. It helped me to explore and analyze ways to find balance between mind, body, and spirit. Finding balance is how I am able to thrive. Activities that help me to find balance are cooking, baking, running, and spending time with my family and friends. To ensure I’m feeling optimal and to be the healthiest I can be, I like to stick to a plant-based diet. It’s fun to evolve recipes I’ve learned from family and adapt them to being more plant-based. I still do enjoy eating meat and dairy in moderation. Running allows me to stay in shape and keeps me clear-headed at the end of a long day. I try to participate in one half-marathon a year with the goal of eventually completing a full marathon. It is therapeutic for me to always make time to converse with family and friends.
