About Me
I would like to thank you for visiting my Web page and giving me the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Kevin Pusavat and I am one of the Assistant Area Medical Directors at Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center, and a hospitalist (meaning I care for members who have been admitted to the hospital) in the Internal Medicine Department.
Biography
I guess you could say I have been part of Kaiser Permanente since birth. My initials happen to be K.P., and I was born in the hospital where I currently work. We at South Bay Medical Center pride ourselves on being like a family. In my case, there’s a real family connection. I followed in my father's footsteps by choosing a career as an internal medicine physician. Like him, I enjoy practicing medicine at South Bay Medical Center. My father worked at South Bay (called Harbor City in those days) for over 30 years. He continues to remain active after retirement by working in the Hematology/Oncology Department.
About my practice
As an Assistant Area Medical Director and hospitalist I share responsibility for overseeing many of the patient services at the medical center and at some of our medical office buildings. In September of 2013, I broadened my accountability to other areas, including continuing care and three other outpatient departments. I’m proud to be part of the leadership team at Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center. Our team strives to provide high-quality, affordable care and excellent service to our members.
How I thrive
As a father of two, I enjoy spending most of my free time with my wife and kids. I'm also a life-long martial artist who enjoys a variety of sports and physical activities. As a believer of preventative medicine and an active participant in several Kaiser Permanente-sponsored healthy living events, I believe it's important for physicians to practice what they preach by staying mentally, physically, and spiritually healthy so that they can be in the best possible mindset to care for their patients.
