About Me

I grew up in Wayland, Massachusetts. My mother is a radiation oncologist and my father is a college counselor in private practice, in addition to being an author. My father introduced me to existentialism and philosophy when I was young, igniting my interest in the human condition. I attended boarding school at St. Paul's School in Concord, NH and went on to college at Dartmouth. I moved to Portland after college at 23 and fell in love with the Northwest. I love the geographic variety of mountains, ocean and high desert as well as the unique Portland culture, especially the cuisine and the people.

About my practice

I have always been fascinated by the mind and its relationship to human suffering and happiness. I studied comparative religion at Dartmouth College as an undergrad and began to expose myself to multiple philosophies about meaningful human life. I continued my studies at Lewis and Clark college getting my master's degree in Adult Psychology with a specialty in Addiction Medicine. Outside my formal education, I have explored wellness in a variety of forms and studied the practices experts in mental wellness including John Kabat Zinn, Tatyana Von Knobelsdorf (Don Miquel Ruiz), Marcia Linehan, Francine Shapiro (EMDR Institute), John Gottman (Gottman institute), Salvador Minuchin ( Minuchin Institute). I've also studied a variety of mindfulness practices and am trained in EMDR. I work at the Intensive Outpatient Program at Cascade Park and love my job. At IOP I have the privilege of seeing people get better quickly and gain skills to improve the quality of their lives. I feel fortunate to get to be a part of my patients growth and wellness on daily basis.

How I thrive

I have been practicing mindfulness regularly since my first exposure at the Boston Zen Center at age 16. Mindfulness meditation has taught me about my own mind and is a source of calm and inspiration for me. I am committed to physical wellness through exercise and love yoga of all kinds. I am also trained in Gyrotonic and am a certified instructor. In my free time I like to take hikes with my dog, read, cook, see films and explore the fine cuisine in Portland.
