About Me
I was born on Langley Air Force Base in Virginia and raised in Detroit, Michigan. I have been married to my lovely wife for over 30 years and we have four adult children. In 1995 we moved to Hawaii to raise our two youngest children whom we adopted from Romania. We also have five wonderful grandchildren, a great grandson, and five beloved family dogs. I feel incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful family.
About my practice
My early passion for being of service to others and improving lives influenced my decision to become a doctor. Being board certified in both internal medicine and pediatrics provides me with the opportunity to take care of multiple generations of families while watching them grow and change. I believe in using the support of patients’ family members to improve both the individual’s health and the wellness of the entire family. As the former physician-in-charge of the Kaiser Permanente clinics on Maui, my leadership role allowed me to help my colleagues to make a difference in the lives of so many people. I appreciate that the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group takes an integrated, highly coordinated, team-based approach to care. It is an honor to work with such an amazing group of physicians and providers focused on prevention, early cancer detection and delivering consistent, high quality care for our members. I believe in the importance of a healthy mind and spirit and a positive attitude. Addressing this with my patients makes it easier for us to discuss prevention, health maintenance and the control of chronic disease. I love learning about what makes my patients’ hearts sing and enjoy sharing my own passions and interests.
How I thrive
I stay active by golfing and running my dogs daily. I also enjoy reading a variety of books including fiction, business and religious works; this calms both my mind and spirit. Any time I spend with my family and dogs is a real pleasure for me. My wife and I also love to travel and enjoy attending church together.
