About Me

Welcome to my Web page. My decisions to enter the medical field stemmed from my interests in the sciences in high school and the constant nature of questioning in medicine. Gastroenterology piqued my interest in medical school, with its purpose to manage diseases of the digestive tract and liver. Prior to becoming a physician, I was a personal fitness trainer for two years. This aspect of my history coincides with my philosophy of medicine, that is, to practice what I preach.

Biography

I was raised in San Diego nearly my entire life and was fortunate enough to remain in San Diego as a Kaiser Permanente physician. As an undergraduate student at UC San Diego, I majored in biochemistry and minored in Spanish literature, studying for a time in Mexico to enhance my communication skills in Spanish. I attended the Chicago Medical School and returned to San Diego to complete my residency and gastroenterology fellowship. I am grateful that I was able to join the great group of gastroenterologists here at Kaiser Permanente in 2012.

About my practice

I have wonderful colleagues with different individual interests in various aspects in the field of gastroenterology and hepatology, and the camaraderie of intellect and friendship in our department is very meaningful to me. I feel very fortunate to work in this environment, helping patients with my colleagues and also with staff in other departments.

How I thrive

I have a wonderful family and extended family here in San Diego. The luxury of being in San Diego allows me to stay active with running and playing competitive soccer. The balance of work at Kaiser Permanente allows me to enjoy time with my family. I hope to pass on my medical knowledge and ideals of healthy living onto my patients.
