About Me

My family and I left Vietnam after the war as refugees. Thankful for the opportunities afforded to me in this country, and through the values instilled in me by my parents, I feel privileged to be a pediatrician. I grew up in San Diego and completed my undergraduate degree in anthropology and a master’s degree in public health at the University of California Los Angeles. I then attended medical school in the San Francisco Bay Area and completed a pediatric residency at the Naval Medical Center San Diego. For over 13 years, I served our country in the United States Navy as a pediatrician caring for military families and their dependents. I deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and had duty stations on the West Coast, Japan, and Italy. We are happy now to be in my wife’s hometown and to establish roots for our daughter.

About my practice

From birth through adolescence, young people possess an amazing energy and optimism that can bring a smile to anyone's face. I am fascinated by the differences in development among children and respect that each family approaches the joys and challenges of raising children with their own unique strengths and techniques. Through collaboration and encouragement, I appreciate your trust in being a partner in your child’s care so that they will be healthy, happy, and successful.

How I thrive

Aromas of earth, ocean, and air meld as a bouillabaisse boils, a paella percolates, and a tagine tantalizes the senses … I’m passionate about cooking and exploring cultures through cuisine, and I love sharing this wonderful nourishment with family and friends. I also find peace and solace in the quiet beauty of nature through hiking and camping. Ultimately, my family gives me incredible strength, and there is nothing more precious than time spent laughing, playing, and growing up with our daughter.
