About Me
I was born and raised in Honolulu and am a proud graduate of Saint Louis High School. My family was very influential in my decision to pursue a medical career: In addition to my parents’ encouragement and support, I have a long family line of doctors, including my grandfather, who was a physician in Korea. I also discovered early on in my life that I love to help others and be of service to my community, so a career in medicine was the perfect profession for me.
About my practice
I decided to specialize in internal medicine because it gives me the opportunity to develop strong, long-term relationships with my patients and provide them with more personalized care. My patients are my highest priority and I strive to care for every one of them as a whole, with compassion and professionalism. Spending time with my patients is always enjoyable, and it's wonderful to get to know them on a personal level. I often see patients in person but make myself available through other means, including email and phone, as needed.
As part of Hawaii Permanente Medical Group, I value the strong collegial relationships between the physicians and medical staff and the highly coordinated care we can provide to our patients. I'm inspired by Hawaii Permanente Medical Group’s innovation and appreciate the opportunities to expand my career beyond patient care. For example, as a “techie” at heart, I enjoy being a member of our physician team that supports our excellent electronic medical records system.
I'm also a member of the American College of Physicians.
How I thrive
I stay active by walking, running, golfing and doing yard work. I love spending time with my wife and two beautiful daughters and enjoy traveling. I also volunteer with youth programs at our community church.
