About Me
My decision to practice medicine came later than most, during my last year of college at Indiana University, in Bloomington. During a dinner to celebrate my acceptance to medical school, my family asked what ultimately had drawn me to the field. On a napkin I wrote the 13 reasons why I chose to become a doctor. My family framed the napkin as a gift for my graduation from residency, and now it is hanging in my office for all to see. The best reasons are "truly help people every day" and "active, daily problem solving." The most fun: "scrubs."
About my practice
I enjoy pediatric sleep medicine because it gives me the opportunity to care for children with behavioral sleep issues, as well as children having complex medical conditions with airway or sleep components. Sleep quality and quantity affects not only the child but the whole family. Improving a family's quality of life is the fundamental goal behind treating any sleep problem, and helping to reach that goal is the best part of my job!
How I thrive
My favorite thing to do is go to the beach, whether the rugged, beautiful Pacific Northwest coast or a sunny, gorgeous Southeastern beach. Looking out over the ocean or floating on the waves always brings me peace of mind. On a typical day off, I like to read voraciously, bake, explore Portland shops, play tennis and practice yoga, and eat the delicious meals my husband makes.
