About Me

I spent my childhood in Alberta and British Columbia, Canada, and earned my medical degree at the University of Antwerp in Belgium. I completed my internship at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta, and my residency in family medicine at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. In 1997 I immigrated with my family to "small town America," eventually settling in Portland in 2004. I practice medicine because it is my joy to provide for the medical needs of my patients, and to help them maintain or regain optimal health.

About my practice

I take a holistic approach to health care and am keen on health maintenance through diet, exercise, and emotional, social, and spiritual balance. My specialty is family medicine, in which I am boarded with the American Board of Family Medicine; I hold a fellowship with the College of Family Physicians of Canada. I also have a fellowship in integrative medicine with the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine.

How I thrive

My wife is a PhD psychotherapist, and we have four grown children together. I have strong interests in outdoor activities including hiking and skiing, and in 2016 I ventured to Nepal to hike to Base Camp on Mount Everest, and later climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania with my son and friends. I also enjoy traveling and reading history, and I am devoted to classical music.
