About Me
Welcome to my Web page. I am happy to have this chance to introduce myself to you and tell you about my practice. I feel very fortunate to have recently returned to San Diego to care for the members of Kaiser Permanente, and look forward to working with you.
Biography
I grew up in a large family (seven children!) in New England. I moved to the Midwest to attend college at the University of Notre Dame and medical school at Northwestern University. Residency brought me to Naval Hospital San Diego in 1994, and from there I did allergy and immunology training at Scripps Clinic. After six years in the Navy, family ties took me back to New England, where I served as section chief of allergy/immunology at Dartmouth Medical School. After five years there (and lots of shoveling snow), the desire to return to beautiful San Diego, along with the opportunity to join Kaiser Permanente, drew my family and me back to this region.
About my practice
Although initially trained in internal medicine, I see both pediatric (aged 5 and above) and adult patients with allergic conditions, and have a particular interest in the management of asthma. With the current excellent treatments available for our patients, it is truly gratifying to help individuals conquer their allergic conditions. In my daily work, it is a privilege to work in a highly functioning allergy department with outstanding, caring support staff and nationally recognized physicians.
How I thrive
Work-life balance is very important to me. I specifically enjoy frequent activities with my wife and three children, with the current favorite of the kids being boogie boarding (yes, I’m in that cold Pacific water often with them). Otherwise, running, golfing, and being an avid football and baseball fan occupy the remainder of my leisure time.
