About Me
Hello, and welcome to my Web page. The growth of scientific knowledge never ceases to amaze me; I love to learn something new every day. I am also humbled by our limitations as physicians and humans. My experiences as a teenager created the drive and passion to pursue a career in medicine.
Biography
I grew up in New York, got a B.S. in biological sciences and communication at Cornell University in 2003, and completed my M.D. at SUNY Down state's College of Medicine in Brooklyn in 2007. I was able to get an excellent clinical experience seeing patients from all over the world, and was lucky enough to meet my lovely wife! Being from California, she convinced me to return with her to complete residency in Internal Medicine at Kaiser Permanente in Oakland in 2010. I fell in love with rheumatology during my training, and after my chief resident year, I completed a Rheumatology fellowship at UC Irvine in 2013. However, it was clear to us before residency that Kaiser Permanente's integrated system was ideal way for patients and physicians alike. As physicians we can focus on the main reason we entered medicine - patient care ' while business experts help us steer through the tumultuous and dynamic business waters that is the US healthcare system.
About my practice
I am board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology. As a rheumatologist, I specialize in a specific subset of autoimmune disorders, most of which affect the musculoskeletal system, but can also affect other systems. There is so much that our immune systems control and regulate. It is upsetting to see one's own body turn against itself, and not being able to do much without using treatments causing harm in other ways. However, there have been amazing developments in the last few decades to help do this, and newer treatments are rapidly emerging. The goal of our rheumatology team of medical assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, and doctors is to help you achieve a better quality of life. Stress relievers also help to avoid being consumed by things beyond our control.
How I thrive
When I have time off I love to travel, spend time with my family, read a good book, or watch entertaining movies. I also enjoy watching and playing most sports.
