About Me

I grew up on a farm outside of Corvallis Oregon in a family of six kids. I attended both Oregon state and the University of Oregon with degrees from both schools. I moved to Portland in 1979 and have been working in the substance abuse field since, starting at Kaiser Permanente in 1985. I have been married for almost 30 years with two grown children.

About my practice

Substance abuse and dependence is too common in our society and it can interfere with peoples healthy life goals. The problems caused by this can hurt those in our lives who care about us. I believe that with motivation, support and persistence that anyone can make major life changes. Working in this field with a non judgmental attitude will bring out the positives in any individual.

How I thrive

I believe that being physically fit is a big part of a healthy lifestyle. I continue to train and compete in triathlons with short races up to Ironman distance. I like to volunteer at the triathlon Club various races around town and the marathon planning committee. Life can be stressful at times and a good sense of humor is often the best medicine.
