About Me
I went to medical school at the University of Washington in Seattle, then I did my internal medicine residency at the Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Santa Clara, California. Thereafter I was on staff at that hospital for five years in a role that involved teaching residents and medical students. In 1995 I moved to the Portland area and was the only internist in a small clinic in Gresham for five years. Since 2000, I have been a hospital based physician in Portland and in 2008 I have returned to my Kaiser Permanente "roots" and am privileged to practice hospital medicine at Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center. My varied career has given my a broad range of clinical experience which I draw upon every day. I am fortunate to have many supportive friends and a happy home life with my partner of over 20 years.
About my practice
My practice is currently limited to hospitalized adults at Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center. I am honored to provide care to those who are often very sick with great needs and I strive to make their lives better.
How I thrive
How do I thrive? Well, I practice what I preach. My neighbor, who has been a Kaiser Permanente member for many years, say he gets inspired when he sees me out for my walk. Exercise is essential in feeling good and being happy and I have exercised on a regular bases since I was 18, which is now many years ago. Also, in Oregon we are blessed with wonderful nature right out the front door. A good hike or bike ride clears the mind and makes a bad day better and a good day great.
