About Me
Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and my practice. It is very important that you feel comfortable with your physician, and I hope this page helps you get to know me. Building trust and partnership is key to the care I provide.
Biography
I was born in India and completed my medical school training there before moving to the United States. I completed my residency in internal medicine in Pittsburgh and then relocated to California to pursue fellowship training in hematology and oncology at UC San Diego.
Following fellowship, I served as an assistant professor at UC San Diego until 2006, when I joined Kaiser Permanente. Since 2007, I have served as the physician-in-charge of the Tumor Board at Kaiser Permanente’s Alton/Sand Canyon Medical Offices, helping guide collaborative treatment decisions for complex cancer cases.
About my practice
I strongly believe in multidisciplinary management for those with cancer. I regularly collaborate with specialists across disciplines to develop comprehensive, individual treatment plans.
Establishing a trusting relationship through effective communication, compassionate care, and high-quality care is central to my practice. I am committed to offering the latest treatment options based on evidence and current research, and to enrolling eligible members in clinical trials when appropriate.
My Cancer Subspecialty Focus
My focus includes gastrointestinal cancers, along with the care of adults with a broad range of solid tumors and hematologic conditions. I am dedicated to developing personalized treatment strategies that incorporate current scientific advancements while honoring each member’s goals and values.
Research and Clinical Trials
I participate in several National Cancer Institute–supported oncology research networks, including:
- SWOG Cancer Research Network
- National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP)
- Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology
- NRG Oncology
In addition, I am a member of the former Cancer and Leukemia Group B (CALGB) and NSABP clinical trial groups. As a sub-investigator on multiple clinical trials, I help bring innovative therapies to our community and contribute to ongoing advancements in cancer treatment and survivorship care.
How I thrive
Maintaining balance in my life is very important to me. I strive to balance my busy clinical practice with quality time spent with my family. As a vegetarian, I also enjoy teaching my children about healthy nutrition and lifestyle habits. I have a love for music, which helps me relax and recharge.
