About Me
My training in clinical laboratory medicine is in the field of diagnostic microbiology. I have been in this field as a laboratory director since 1987. I am board certified by the American Board of Medical Microbiology and am a fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology. I have had the privilege to work for Kaiser Permanents in the Pathology department since 2003. Currently, I serve as the medical director for our Airport Way Regional Laboratory and as the regional director for our Microbiology department. I am also an associate professor at Oregon Health and Science University in the Pathology department and teach in several programs for that organization.
About my practice
As the leader of our clinical microbiology laboratory team, I am committed to clinically-relevant, cost-effective diagnosis of infectious diseases in our patients. We, along with our colleagues in the Infectious Diseases, Infection Control, Pharmacy, and Pathology departments, are dedicated to the timely testing, diagnosis, and treatment of infections in our members.
How I thrive
I have always been a person who believes in good health and healthy practices. For me those include eating right and exercising both the mind and the body. Fortunately, this belief has only been enforced since moving to the wonderful city of Portland, Oregon, and working for Kaiser Permanente. I enjoy commuting to work by bike or MAX, hiking, walking, playing the piano, and enjoying excellent Pacific Northwest wines with my husband.
