I am originally from Indianapolis. I spent my college days in the wonderful city of New Orleans and somehow managed to keep my figure. I then moved to Philadelphia, where at the University of Pennsylvania, I fell in love with obstetrics and gynecology. I enjoyed the diverse day-to-day activities of delivering a baby on Monday, performing a technically difficult surgery on Tuesday and chatting about my patients' families on Wednesday during their annual exams. I am married, have two children, and am active in my community and sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. I volunteer with the Spirit Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization that raises awareness of cervical cancer.
The field of obstetrics and gynecology is very personal and private. My approach to the care of our members is to treat them with compassion and respect. It is so important that my patients truly understand their medical issues. I try to educate our members in a way that makes them comfortable with my care and we are able to make a decision together about the best plan for whatever medical concern they have. I focus on conservative treatment options and minimally invasive surgical procedures. I have developed skill in laparoscopic surgery and robotic surgery, and many other minor procedures that can be performed in the office. In addition to my medical practice, I am an Area Physician Market Lead for Kaiser Permanente and this allows me to share how Kaiser Permanente delivers the high-quality health care to the community.
I maintain balance in my life by making my drive to work and home my daily transition period. Rhythmic music helps me organize my thoughts in preparation for the day's tasks, as well as clears my mind and prepares me for "mommy mode" when the work day is over. I am very social and enjoy visiting with friends and family. Philanthropic involvement keeps me grounded and allows me to give back to our community. I also love to cook, entertain and travel.
