About Me

I was born in Kailua and raised in Pearl City. Hawaii is a special place to call home, and I am honored to be able to give back to the community through my work in behavioral health medicine.

About my practice

My decision to pursue a medical career was influenced by my mother, who ran a care home for the mentally challenged out of our house. I helped her in the care giving and was motivated by her compassion and dedication. While I originally wanted to go into pediatrics, I enjoyed my psychiatry rotation so much that I decided to combine both interests into one career by specializing in child and adolescent psychiatry. The science of psychiatry and the unique and intriguing experiences of being around youth have provided me with a fulfilling and compelling career. One of the reasons why I enjoy working within the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group is my colleagues. Their support, professionalism and camaraderie, not only between each other but also among staff members, are qualities that I have come to value and appreciate.

How I thrive

I try to stay fit with daily runs or walks with my Rottweiler. Hawaii’s consistently good weather allows me to participate in outdoor activities like mountain biking, stand up paddle boarding, and surfing. I love time with my family too, and my husband and I enjoy our annual winter ski and summer lake trips with his family and friends in Montana.
