About Me

Welcome to my Web page. I'm happy to have this page to tell you a little about my practice and myself. I enjoy my work at Kaiser Permanente and look forward to working with you, too.

Biography

I was born in Ohio but consider myself a semi-native Californian, having spent well over 60% of my life in California. I wanted to practice medicine from an early age, partly as a consequence of having a younger sister who was born with a serious birth defect.

About my practice

I see members who have conditions treatable by general head and neck surgery, although as the years have passed, I have developed an interest in and expertise with members who have nasal and sinus problems. I also specialize in surgical treatment of skin cancer, and I assisted in the development of some of the technologic methods used for orienting tissues for Mohs type surgery.

How I thrive

I believe in Kaiser Permanente's philosophy of health in body, mind, and spirit, and I try to emulate it in my own life. To that end, I'm trying to be more physically fit, but am challenged in balancing this with a busy professional life. I try to set aside time to just relax or read a good novel. My family life is my major priority outside my professional life. My wife is a nurse at the Veterans Administration Medical Center. We enjoy movies, cooking, trying out new restaurants, and traveling to beach destinations together. We have kids, dogs, a cat, and horses. My son is pharmacy assistant at Kaiser Permanente San Marcos and just passed his pharmacy technologist boards. My daughter graduated from UCLA and is also interested in a health- related occupation.
