About Me
I'd like to start by saying that I am thrilled at the opportunity to be your Kaiser Permanente doctor. It is extremely important that you feel comfortable with your surgeon, and I hope this will allow you get to know me a little better. Outside of my role as a father and husband, surgery is my greatest passion. The combination of knowledge, technical skill, and creativity required to perform at the highest levels inspires me. It pushes me to continually expand and creates a profound sense of drive, meaning, and purpose. I was drawn to corrective facial surgery because the face is so intimately associated with the identity. As a maxillofacial surgeon, I treat conditions of the jaws, mouth, face, head, and neck. When I see members in the office or perform surgeries in the operating room, I like to think that I am restoring an identity and not just fixing a problem.
Biography
I was born in the South Bay but spent most of my adolescence in rural Yucaipa, CA. I attended UC Santa Barbara for my undergraduate education and completed my dental training at the University of the Pacific in San Francisco. I returned to Southern California as a resident in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. It was there that I received training in surgery, medicine, and anesthesia. Upon completion of my residency, I was granted a fellowship in corrective and reconstructive surgery at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center. At the conclusion of the fellowship, I was fortunate enough to stay on as a full-time faculty member.
About my practice
Maxillofacial surgery is a unique specialty that requires training in medicine, surgery, and dentistry. My practice encompasses the full scope of the specialty, which includes the diagnosis and treatment of maxillofacial trauma, congenital deformities, infections, benign cysts and tumors, obstructive sleep apnea, orofacial pain, and temporomandibular joint disorders.
How I thrive
To stay balanced, I make spending time with my wife and 2 children a priority. Family is the foundation of well-being and my greatest source of strength and fulfillment in life. I am an active person who enjoys running, yoga, woodworking, and good barbeque. I am an avid reader and have a borderline addiction to self-help books-I don't know what it is, they just fire me up. I am extremely proud to be a Kaiser Permanente provider because the philosophy of efficient, quality, and team-approach health care is in alignment with my highest values.
