About Me
Welcome to my Web page! I am a relatively new member of the Kaiser Permanente community, but have been practicing medicine since 1987. I attended Albany Medical College of Union University and did my subsequent postgraduate training in anesthesia with the United States Navy. Like the Navy, the Kaiser Permanente system provides an integrated system in which all practitioners can readily share information and recommendations across a linked network.
Biography
I am a local boy, having grown up in La Mesa. My father was one of the first cardiac surgeons in San Diego, and as a young man, I had the opportunity to do rounds with him as he checked on his hospital patients. Those early experiences stoked my interest in medicine. Subsequently, while in high school and college, I worked with an international aid organization and participated in immunization programs in Guatemala, Ecuador, Colombia, and Peru. I had the privilege of working in environments as diverse as the headwaters of the Amazon and Altaplano region of the Andes! I met and married my wife while in college. My wife is a nationally recognized leader and advocate in the field of deaf studies, and I am blessed to be her partner.
About my practice
I believe that the patient comes first. I strive to do my best, to deliver care in a timely, compassionate manner while appreciating the apprehension associated with surgery. I strive to be current in my field of study and competent in the techniques I practice.
How I thrive
Life is about balance. Balance involves successfully juggling the commitments of work, family, and friends while remembering that one needs time alone to reflect and recharge.
