About Me

Welcome to my Web page. I'm happy to have the opportunity to introduce myself to you and tell you about my practice as a pulmonary/critical care physician at Kaiser Permanente. It's very important that you feel comfortable with your personal physician, and I hope this page will help you start to get to know me. I feel fortunate to be able to work at Kaiser Permanente because of my wonderful colleagues and patients, and look forward to working with you to care for your health.

Biography

I was born and raised in the small city of Richland in the beautiful state of Washington. I attended college and medical school in Pennsylvania. For my medical training, I longed for a return to the West Coast and was ecstatic to have the opportunity to come to sunny California. I completed my residency in Internal Medicine at the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento and went on from there to complete a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. After my fellowship training, I joined the Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care at the Kaiser Permanente Fontana and Ontario Medical Centers, and moved to the Inland Empire with my wife and children.

About my practice

My clinical duties are split between seeing patients in the clinic and hospital setting as a pulmonary medicine specialist, and taking care of critically ill patients in the intensive care unit as an intensivist. I have a keen interest in taking care of patients with advanced lung disease including pulmonary fibrosis, chronic lung infections, post-lung transplantation, and pulmonary arterial hypertension. The camaraderie and collegiality that exists in our department is second to none. It is an absolute privilege to take care of my patients in the various clinical settings I am involved in. I feel that healthy living and preventive care are the best ways to stay healthy, but I'm also here to help you when you are sick. I want to be your partner in health, and it helps me take better care for you when you are actively involved in taking care of your health.

How I thrive

Being able to achieve a healthy work-life balance is one of my main priorities. I spend most of my time when not at work with my wife and our two lovely daughters. We feel blessed to have so many members of our extended family nearby in Southern California. I try to find time to stay physically active while maintaining healthy, well-balanced diet. My hobbies including reading (fiction and non-fiction), playing tennis, and catching up on my favorite television shows. I love watching movies, especially classic films. I am also a huge sports fan. Despite being a Californian now, I am loyal to my Washington roots and remain a passionate supporter of the Seattle Seahawks and the Seattle Mariners.
