About my practice

I strive to provide informed, inclusive, and up to date care with further education and research regarding gender and orientation spectrum specific mental health concerns. Additionally, I stay up to date by working on clinical research and trying to not only advance my own knowledge but also advance the knowledge of the mental health and medical communities. I have published in medical journals and presented at various conferences in the past and hope to continue contributing to the field in my career at SCPMG. Additionally, teaching has always been and remains a passion of mine. SCPMG is proud to be the home of multiple advanced graduate medical education programs and a designated training location for medical students. Through teaching, educators must remain current in their field and up to date on the information they are teaching their students. This creates an atmosphere of constant learning for both the student and teacher that benefits the patient with the most up to date and best evidenced treatments being provided to them!

How I thrive

As a provider in the mental health field, balance is the key to staying healthy. I try to put the advice that I share with patients into practice in my own life! Research has shown that we are better able to care for others when we are taking care of ourselves. So, no matter how busy I get, I make sure that for at least two hours before sleep, I am not doing work and that time is spent for me and those that I care about. I schedule time in my week that is reserved for my hobbies (staying active, cardio based sports). I also schedule one personal care event once per month as a 'decompression'; so, when I find stress building up, I tell myself to let it go and direct it towards the upcoming decompression time, then address it and release it in that time. You'll also never catch me without my water bottle!
