About Me

Hello, and welcome to my Web page. I'm Dr. Marie Alfaro-Breeze, and I was born at the Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center. Kaiser Permanente is dedicated to its members as well as the larger community. This is what brought my parents to Kaiser Permanente and why, to this day, they continue to be members.

Biography

I grew up in Southern California, I come from a large working class family—I have eight siblings—and we often struggled just to get by. I learned the value of hard work and was guided throughout my life by my mother's belief that "you can do whatever you set your mind to." I attended Harvard University and graduated with a degree in biology. I later studied medicine at the UC San Diego School of Medicine, and completed my residency in family practice at the Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center in 2006.

About my practice

I currently work part-time. As a board-certified family medicine doctor, I care for members from every stage of life. It’s challenging work, and I’m fortunate to work with colleagues who are always willing to lend a hand. We’re a family of sorts, and we work for every member coming into our offices. We’ll always be focused on taking care of you. I encourage you to register at kp.org so you can access test results, request refills on medications, and find a wealth of other resources.

How I thrive

My philosophy is simple: everything is connected. From what we eat, to what we do, to how we act (or choose not to act), all these things play a role in our health and our day-to-day happiness. In my own life, I have worked to stay active and to make healthy food choices. Meditation has played a large part in maintaining a balanced life and perspective. My advice? Choose to live well. Choose to be positive. Here's a healer’s daily prescription for living well: for a time, feel each breath and, with each breath out, imagine releasing a pain, an ache, or a worry. With each breath in, absorb a sense of comfort, a kind word, a selfless act, a memory of the best thing this year. Repeat as needed.
