About Me

I am thrilled to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself. I am an allergist and immunologist and have been part of Kaiser Permanente in Kern County for almost 20 years. In 1996, I was given the honor to develop the Allergy and Immunology Department in Kern County for Kaiser Permanente. This has been one of the cornerstone achievements of my career.

Biography

I was born in Los Angeles and grew up in South Pasadena. I have been a Kaiser Permanente member since my early childhood. I went into medicine because of my love for the sciences, my people skills, and my desire to provide people with options to improve their health. Kaiser Permanente has offered me the ideal setting to practice medicine. It provides me the opportunity to collaborate with my colleagues in specialties like dermatology, head and neck surgery, and gastroenterology. It has also provided me with a variety of options to hone my leadership skills and learn about the administrative aspects of medicine. I am currently the chief of the Allergy and Immunology Department. I also serve on the board of directors of Southern California Permanente Medical Group.

About my practice

My practice serves both children and adults. Our department strives for innovation in asthma care management. We provide a broad range of services, from allergy injection therapy for members with hay fever to immunology services for those with immune disorders. We strive to create a family atmosphere in our department and to show that we truly care about our patients as individuals.

How I thrive

Keeping balance in my life is important to me. I love to cook, read, travel, and entertain. I enjoy spending my evenings and weekends with my immediate and extended family. I carve out time daily for exercise and uninterrupted conversation with my husband. Each of the above elements helps keep me grounded. My children inspire me with their creative ideas and humor. My husband is my sounding board, the creative force in our family, and the one who always keeps the big picture in mind.
