About Me

Welcome to my Web Page. I’d like to introduce myself to you and tell you more about my practice.

Biography

I was born in Bangkok, Thailand, and came to Los Angeles when I was only 2 years old. I grew up in the San Fernando Valley, went to UC Irvine for college, and then went on to earn a medical degree and a master’s degree in anatomy and neurobiology at Boston University. I completed my internship at Saint Raphael Hospital (affiliated with Yale University), and completed my ophthalmology residency at the Yale Eye Center at Yale School of Medicine. I subsequently finished three fellowships—one in ocular immunology research at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA, a second in neuro-ophthalmology at the Doheny Eye Institute, and then a combined uveitis and medical retina fellowship at the National Institutes of Health/National Eye Institute in Bethesda, Maryland.

About my practice

I’m a neuro-ophthalmologist, which means I specialize in treating nervous system conditions that affect can one's vision. These conditions include double vision, vision loss due to stroke or brain injury, and optic nerve disease—and they can be treated both surgically and non-surgically. As your physician, I'll work with you and other members of your care team (such as your ophthalmologist, neurologist, rheumatologist, or neurosurgeon) to make or confirm a diagnosis, discuss prognosis, and plan treatment strategies. Teamwork is very important to me. Just like a football team, no touchdowns can be scored if all players are not running the same play. In my practice, we make decisions about your care as a team—always with you in mind and involved. Furthermore, I’m proud to note that on my team at Kaiser Permanente in Orange County there are some real all-star staff members.

How I thrive

I stay healthy in mind, body, and spirit by trying to keep a positive attitude about life. I try to always smile, “update” my mind, and allow myself the time for needed rest, recreation, and family time. Two to four times per week I exercise by freestyle swimming 400 to 800 meters, running family 5K races, and going indoor climbing with relatives. I strive to maintain my health so I can, hopefully, be a role model for my members and inspire them to live well in every aspect of their lives.
