About Me
Welcome to my Web page. I work with many wonderful people, which makes me feel quite lucky to be at Kaiser Permanente. In my practice, I want to give 110% to my patients, and I want them to know that I strive to provide them with the best-possible care. I joined Kaiser South Bay full time in 1990 and am the senior member of our department. During this time, I have served as president of the medical staff, and several years on the Quality Committee and the Credentials Committee. I have served on the Membership Services Committee as a patient advocate since 1997.
Biography
I grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania. When I was 5, we moved to Upland, California. At that time it was a small town filled with groves. I received routine health care at Kaiser Permanente Ontario and Fontana. Even when I was a young child, I knew that I wanted to be a doctor. My goal was to be able to make a real difference in people's lives, and practicing medicine has given me that opportunity. I attended Upland High School, UC Riverside, and the UCLA School of Medicine. I did my family medicine training at California Hospital Medical Center, which was affiliated with USC. I was raised with strong family values, and I hope to continue that tradition with my two wonderful daughters. My hobbies include audio, home theater, sports, and chess. My favorite music ranges from 1960s hits to current artists. I keep busy with two daughters. The older one enjoys dance, and the younger one plays in basketball leagues. We have a pet chihuahua mix, Cookie, and two red-eared aquatic slider turtles (Ralph and Bubbles).
About my practice
I feel that healthy living and preventive care are the best ways to stay healthy, but I am also here to help you when you are ill. I want to be your partner in health, and it helps me better care for you when you are actively involved in taking care of your health. I believe that a well-balanced diet and regular exercise is the foundation to good health. Also, a mind at ease and a day filled with laughter can be very healing. Reducing stress and communicating well with family and friends is very important, too. I work closely with the nursing staff to monitor all your labs, X-ray, and vital signs at all times. I have a special interest in the health care of minority groups. I also have specialized training in domestic violence and focus on treatment and prevention.
How I thrive
I take care of myself in mind, body and spirit by the following: Mind: I keep current in world events. Also, playing chess keeps my mind sharp. Listening to music and following my favorite sports teams also get the adrenaline flowing. Body: I try to keep physically active and eat a well-balanced diet. Spirit: I attend and am active in my church. I am an audiophile and enjoy listening to music at home and going to concerts and plays. Following advances in home theater audio and video is exciting. I also enjoy playing chess on the internet or at tournaments and coaching. I like to follow college and pro basketball and football. I celebrate in my patients' good health and wish for everyone to thrive!
