About Me

I grew up in the Rocky Mountains of Utah and completed medical school and orthopedic surgery training in San Antonio, Texas. From there, my family and I packed up and moved to Southern California, where I completed a year-long sports medicine fellowship. Now we're excited about being in the Pacific Northwest. My wife and I spend most of our time with our 5 kids. They keep us busy! I love to be outdoors golfing, snowboarding, and having fun on the lake.

About my practice

I am excited to be practicing orthopedics in this beautiful area. There are countless outdoor activities to enjoy, and my goal is to help members get healthy so that they can take advantage of all of it. As a sports medicine specialist, I focus on shoulder and knee pathology, but I take care of fractures as well. I specialize in arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder (mainly rotator cuff disease and instability) and knee (mostly instability and cartilage repair). Diligent, correct rehab is vital to the recovery process. With each case, it is a 50/50 effort on the part of physicians and members to achieve success. One thing I enjoy about orthopedics is the team approach to member care. I enjoy being a Kaiser Permanente provider because I can focus 100 percent of my time on member care.

How I thrive

I stay active on a daily basis. Physically, I enjoy taking care of my yard, playing sports with my kids, and playing with my dog. Mentally, I have found that serving others makes the most difference in my life. In spirit, I am active in my church and teach a weekly class of 14- and 15-year-olds.
