About Me

I was born and raised right here in Hawaii. After living on the mainland for 12 years to pursue a career in medicine, I was thrilled to return home and have the privilege of serving the people of Maui as a physician. I’m grateful to my mother, who, as a nurse, instilled in me compassion, humility, and the ability to listen, which allow me to communicate well with my patients.

About my practice

I always knew that I wanted to have a career that would allow me to make a difference and to have a positive impact in people's lives. In medicine I have this opportunity every single day — I love helping my patients with whatever type of problem may arise in their lives. Family medicine allows me to provide continuity of care and to be available to my patients on a regular basis.I’m a member of the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Family Physicians. I stay up-to-date in medicine by attending live conferences and reading medical journals. I also appreciate being able to confer with colleagues about cases and developments in my field.I joined the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group because I agree with its philosophy that the patient comes first. At HPMG, we have many resources we can use to make the patient’s experience as pleasant as possible. My own philosophy of care is that the physician is a teacher who helps to educate people about their body as a whole as well as their current medical conditions. My role is not to tell my patients what to do, but, instead, to help them make the best decisions for their own care.

How I thrive

Running and strength-training are my favorite forms of exercise, which help to keep my body running well and take my mind off the daily stressors we all experience. Also, I think the ocean is one of the most beautiful and peaceful aspects of nature. Swimming, surfing, diving, or just lying on the beach helps to relax both my mind and body. I also love spending time with my family and seeing smiles on the faces of my children.
