About Me
Hello! I am Dr. Kim Peterson. I hope to get to know you and your family as your child's pediatrician.
Biography
I was born in Hollywood but raised in Stockton, California. I am the eldest of 4 children. I completed my undergraduate studies at Stanford University and then moved back to Los Angeles for medical school and residency, both at UCLA. I have been working as a general pediatrician since 2012. My husband and I have 3 children: 1 girl and 2 boys. We are an active family and participate in community sports leagues, church, and school and neighborhood events.
About my practice
As a pediatrician, I get to observe and interact with children at all stages of childhood and adolescence. I love holding babies and playing and talking with them as they grow. When they approach adolescence, I get to listen to their concerns and aspirations, which makes my job so very enjoyable and fulfilling. I strongly believe that in raising children, things are not always black and white—there are many shades of gray, and that is where I am able to help families determine what is right for their individual situations. I have particular interests in nutrition, picky eating, behavioral concerns, school problems, and infectious diseases.
How I thrive
These days, I am very family oriented and love to spend any extra time with my husband, young children, and extended family. However, I still love to get outdoors and participate in physical activity. Backpacking and playing sports are my favorite pastimes. In college, I was a Division I athlete in women's lacrosse at Stanford, and I still love to compete on a women's post-collegiate team. Lately, I have taken up ocean paddle boarding. It’s an awesome way to “unplug” and see tons of wildlife—there are so many dolphins, bat rays, and pelicans that live so close to us!
