About Me

Welcome to my Web page! I hope this information will help you to get to know me a little better.

Biography

I grew up here in San Diego and feel blessed to be a San Diego Kaiser Permanente physician. I left San Diego to study history at Rice University in Houston. I decided during college that I would pursue a career in medicine. I joined the US Navy to attend medical school at the Uniformed Services University. I completed my training in internal medicine, gastroenterology, and advanced endoscopy while in the Navy. I left active duty to join Kaiser Permanente in 2015, and I remain in the Reserves. My wife is also from San Diego, and we have 3 daughters.

About my practice

I am a board-certified gastroenterologist with a focus on advanced therapeutic endoscopy. My interests include endoscopic ultrasound, ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography), enteroscopy, and other advanced procedures. I became chief of the San Diego Gastroenterology Department in January of 2017, and I’m excited to help us move into the future.

How I thrive

My family is my focus. We live in the best city in the world to get outdoors and be active. You’ll find us out there somewhere on a hike, at the beach, or in the water soaking up life in paradise.
