About Me
It is a pleasure to tell you a little about myself and my plastic surgery practice here in Orange County. After spending 15 years practicing plastic surgery at our West Los Angeles Medical Center, I now call the new Sand Canyon/Alton Medical Center my professional home. Over the years I have treated patients from all regions of Southern California, have enjoyed my administrative roles, and especially appreciate the unique Kaiser Permanente medical approach that succeeds by teamwork instead of competition.
Biography
I am a native of Connecticut and moved to sunny California in 1991. I have been married for more than 20 years and have three teenage children.
About my practice
I am a board-certified plastic surgeon and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and I hold an additional certificate qualifying me to perform surgery of the hand. I enjoy all types of plastic and reconstructive surgery, although I have additional expertise in hand surgery. I have a special interest in breast reconstruction and have been on numerous committees inside and outside of Kaiser Permanente promoting women's health and research. Most recently I organized and chaired the Kaiser Permanente Multidisciplinary Breast Cancer Symposium. I am also the plastic surgeon for the regional vascular birthmark clinic. Only about 10 percent of American plastic surgeons are women (the percentage is higher within Kaiser Permanente). Because I am a woman, my perspective and sensitivities are different and may be of special benefit to some patients.
How I thrive
Because I am a busy full-time surgeon, thriving is more than how I eat or exercise; it is keeping balance in my life and perfecting the arts of prioritizing and delegating. Family time comes first. Then there is traveling, walking, cooking, watching concerts, attending theater, and relaxing with family and friends.
