About Me

Thank you very much for visiting my Web page. I feel grateful to have joined Kaiser Permanente and to be part of a large group of talented and caring physicians, nurses, and staff. I hope the information provided will serve as a useful introduction to my background and my approach to clinical practice. The physician-patient relationship is unique and requires trust and excellent communication. To that end, I strive to explain things in straightforward terms and make myself available beyond the initial visit through e-mail or phone messages.

Biography

I grew up in Southern California and attended Yale for college. I went to UC San Francisco for medical school and completed residency and a fellowship in rhinology and skull base surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital. I then returned to California to pursue a fellowship in facial plastics and reconstructive surgery and anterior skull base surgery at UC Irvine. Before joining Kaiser Permanente I was a faculty member at Johns Hopkins and UC Irvine. I enjoy teaching and research and am a clinical assistant professor in the department of Head and Neck Surgery at UC Irvine and as well as a consultant at the Long Beach Veterans Affairs Medical Center. I am committed to academics and have published over 20 peer-reviewed articles and 10 book chapters.

About my practice

I continue to practice some general otolaryngology but have a special interest and training in rhinology (sinus surgery), facial plastics and reconstructive surgery, and anterior skull base surgery. We now have an aesthetic clinic where we offer botox injections and injectible fillers. Additionally, as a fee-for-service procedure, I am able to offer cosmetic rhinoplasty at the time of functional nasal surgery as well as upper blepharoplasty (upper eyelid surgery) in the clinic or operating room.

How I thrive

After traveling to many places for my education, I feel fortunate to be back in Southern California. I stay balanced by spending quality time with my wife and family. In addition, I enjoy golf, snowboarding, tennis, travel, and cooking. I believe balance is important for living a healthy life. I look forward to meeting you and hope that I may be of some service to you.
