About Me
Welcome! I am Chih-An “Andy” Wong, and I’m a psychiatrist with Kaiser Permanente. Finding the right physician can be confusing and frankly aggravating at times. I hope this Web page will help you get to know a little about me. I encourage you to read through the biographies of our many wonderful physicians so you may find the one best suited for you.
Biography
I was born in Taiwan and am near-fluent in Mandarin Chinese. I came to the United States early on in childhood, and I am, by most standards, Americanized. I have lived in many places with family and on my own and held many types of jobs before deciding to pursue a career in medicine. My road to psychiatry was long, but I’m finally here where I feel I belong. I’m excited and happy to join the Kaiser Permanente family, and I look forward to being your partner in health!
About my practice
I finished medical school at USC’s Keck School of Medicine and my general psychiatry residency at Los Angeles County Hospital. I pride myself on my work ethic and comprehensive approach. I strive to understand you and will take time to explain things to you. To be honest, I enjoy explaining things to members and find it incredible how much of a difference it can make at times. I will look at evidence and current research to recommend medication and referrals for therapy and other services for you. If you want a partner in your mental health, then I may be the psychiatrist for you.
How I thrive
Exercise! I encourage exercise because it has personally made a world of difference for me. My motivation for exercise has changed over time, but motivation is key. I love to play basketball, even though I’m not very good, and I enjoy high-intensity interval training (HIIT) classes. I also try to live what I teach. I found that a lot of what I learned during psychiatry training has helped me live a more fulfilling life with better relationships. This has been a great gift that I will always be thankful for. I understand myself more every day, and that has helped me find new ways to improve and thrive.
