About Me

Welcome to my Web page. I am a nephrologist, which means I specialize in the function and diseases of the kidneys. I have practiced for more than 17 years at Bellflower Medical Center. I am the lead physician of my department, a role that I assumed more than 13 years ago. I am also the medical director of the peritoneal and hemodialysis services here. I feel fortunate to be able to work at Kaiser Permanente, as a physician and as an administrator who is working to make our organization one of the best health care delivery systems in the country.

Biography

I was born in Karachi, Pakistan. Even when I was a young child, I knew that I wanted to be a doctor. I knew that I wanted to make a difference in people's lives, and practicing medicine gives me that opportunity. I moved to the United States more than 25 years ago. Southern California has been my home since then, except for a brief period when I moved to Rochester, New York, to do my internal medicine residency. I love living in Southern California mostly because of the beautiful weather and the cultural diversity it offers.

About my practice

Medicine as a career is a very special opportunity to help people in a meaningful way. My goal as a nephrologist has always been to offer members with kidney disease all the options of kidney-related care in a friendly and caring environment. I have helped to build a team made up of physicians, nurses, a social worker, a dietician, and a pharmacist to facilitate care for this group of members. I feel very honored that people have entrusted me with their care and strive to treat them as I would my own family.

How I thrive

My family is my major priority. I enjoy going to the gym at least three times a week with my teenage son. I also try to remain in shape by using my treadmill at home. In my spare time, I like to garden.
