About Me
My name is Dr. Michael Ryan, and I am a board-certified orthopedic surgeon. I specialize in adult reconstructive surgery and sports medicine, and I have been a member of the Kaiser Permanente San Diego Orthopedics Department since 2000.
Biography
Born and raised in Pasadena, California, I pursued my medical education close to home at USC. I then made the move across the country for a surgical orthopedic residency at the State University of New York at Stony Brook and a fellowship at New York Hospital for Special Surgery before joining Kaiser Permanente. Continuously engaged in the latest advancements in orthopedic surgery, I am proud to be a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery.
About my practice
Because I specialize in total joint replacement, my approach to care has a balanced perspective. While I advocate for conservative measures and explore all avenues of recovery, I am also committed to precision when surgery becomes the optimal course of action.
Working within an organization that values communication, teamwork, and care based on evidence and current research is a privilege. Our departmental protocols, from pre-operation to post-operation, ensure high-quality care at every stage. Additionally, I use a personalized approach, taking the time to understand each member's unique needs and aspirations. This allows us to design a tailored care plan aimed at achieving good outcomes.
How I thrive
I find fulfillment in cherishing moments with my family and watching my sons excel in collegiate football. I also love contributing my time as a volunteer team doctor for one of the local San Diego high school football teams.
